We arrange pilgrimage walks in the countryside around Gothenburg, accessible by public transport, on the first Saturday of every month (though the January walk was a bit later). We usually walk mainly in silence, with short meditations and sometimes a pilgrims’ mass in English. Bring your own lunch unless otherwise stated.
2015:
Here is the programme for 2015 so far:
December 5: to be announced
November 7: to be announced
October 10: Gunnebo to Kållered
Meet on Mölndals bro by the top of the elevator going down to the railway platforms at 11:00. We shall stop for fika and a pilgrim mass at Hörsicka sjö, then, following partly Bohusleden and partly a path beside the power lines, proceed to Kållered where we are invited for a meal. About two and a half hours walking, and the theme will be “Power Lines” (title of a book of prayers by David Adam).
Please let me know by Thursday 7 October if you are coming, so that the hosts know how much soup to make.
September 5: Vrångö
Our walk will be led by Lars van der Heeg.
Departure 1: Järntorget 10:05 Tram 11
Departure 2: Saltholmen 10:40 Ferry 281
Arrival: Vrångö 11:40
Pigrimage in silence + lunch and prayer + pilgrimage in silence or in discussion
Return: 15:15 Vrängö – Järntorget 16:21
Please bring lunch, something to sit on and maybe something to swim in.
Note that tram 11 has been rerouted for road works (not going via Domkyrkan or Hagakyrkan), and check vasttrafik.se for transport to Saltholmen.
August 1: Brännö and Galterö
Take the 11:00 boat from Saltholmen to Brännö Rödsten (tram 11 leaving Centralstationen at 10:06 connects, but check the time at your stop because of roadworks and rerouting). Pilgrim mass, picnic lunch, and possibly swimming.
July 4: Skepplanda to Lödöse.
3 hours walking (10 km) plus lunch, pilgrims’ mass and visit the exhibition about pilgrimage at Lödöse museum. This is the last section of Lödöseleden, the pilgrimage path from Göteborg which was opened last year. At 9:50 pendeltåg from Göteborg Centralstationen to Älvängen. Travel at the front of the train as we have 5 minutes to cross the bridge and find bus 434 to Skepplanda Albotorget. We might get off the stop before – I’ll ask the driver which is the best stop for the church. There is an hourly bus from the museum back to Älvängen. I have not walked this section of the path, but downloaded a good map from the internet, and it is waymarked with the pilgrim sign.
Enjoy!
Pax et bonum.
